Wesley Falls in CAC Playoffs

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - No. 15 St. Mary's (Md.) proved too much for Wesley College to handle as the Wolverines dropped a 25-5 score in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Championship Tournament.

The Seahawks (12-4) scored three times in the opening 1:09, but Kyley McDevitt scored with 28:21 to play in the half to make it a 3-1 game. St. Mary's ripped off six more goals, however, before Wesley (5-11) scored again. McDevitt's second goal - on a free position shot - and a score by Stephanie Johnson cut it to 9-3 with 12:35 left in the half.

Goals by Kerry Buckley and Anna Moore kept Wesley within seven for much of the remainder of the half, but the Seahawks ended the period with four goals in the final 3:10 for a 16-5 halftime lead.

St. Mary's ran off nine unanswered goals in the second half for the 25-5 win.

Lauren Carrier and Maggie Macleay had four goals apiece for St. Mary's. Kelsey Branch had one goal and five assists for six points.

McDevitt scored twice for the lone multi-point performance for the Wolverines.
