Cervenka Ties Assist Record in Win
DOVER, Del. - Wesley College's Leslie Cervenka (Newtown, Pa./Pennsbury) tied the school record for career assists in an 18-0 shutout win over visiting Trinity (D.C.).
With four assists in the game, she tied the record of 43, held by Leah-Rose Dickter. Cervenka also had a goal in the game for five points.
It took Wesley just 10 seconds to score, as Amanda Browning (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) scored off the opening draw. Stephanie Bailey (Kensington, Md./Walter Johnson) scored the first two of her four goals in the next 2:35 and the Wolverines kept going from there, leading 13-0 at the half.
The Wesley defense held the Tigers (0-2) to just three shots in the contest. Brooke Bennett (Milton, Del./Cape Henlopen) had 11 ground balls and caused four turnovers.
Farryn Kauffman (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) picked up her second shutout of the year, making three saves.
Wesley wraps up a three game homestand when Moravian comes to town on Saturday, March 11 at 1:00 PM.
