Wesley Picks Up First Win
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Freshmen Kaitlin Barry (Chester, N.J./Immaculata) and Samantha Hannibal (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) each scored a goal and classmate Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I./Cranston) made five saves to lead Wesley College past Washington 2-0.
Berry's first career goal proved to be the game-winner, when she beat a defender in the 41st minute.
Hannibal stretched the lead in the 58th minute with a shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
The two scores were all the Wolverines (1-1) would need as Kahan stopped five shots for her first career shutout.
The Shorewomen (0-1) were playing their season opener and matched Wesley with 10 shots, but could not find the back of the net.
Tori Ripple made five saves for Washington.
The Wolverines are back in action on September 9 against Richard Stockton in the first match of a four game homestand.
