York slips by Wolverines

York, Pa. - Despite a valiant defensive effort, the Wolverines fell to CAC rival and 6th (NSCAA South Atlantic) ranked York (Pa.) 1-0 in women's soccer. Wolverine goalie Sydney Kahan (Cranston, R.I.) made 7 saves in the loss.

Wesley (6-10) played even with York (13-4-1) until the second half when a cross from the right side was caught by Kahan, bobbled, then hammered home on the doorstep by the Spartan's Erin Mummert for the game deciding goal.

Wesley defensive style helped keep the Wolverines in the game for the rest of the game, but unable to mount a offensive charge.

York showed its power capturing many team statistics including 12 shots and 7 corner kicks to Wesley's 5 and 0 respectivley.

Wesley did have 5 shots in the game, including two by Lindsey Campbell (Bear, Del.) but none of them threatened the York goal.

Neither York goalies, Sarah Spanarkel and Desiree Halaka, recorded saves on the day.

Wesley's last regular season game is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 on the road against Marymount (Va.).
