Wolverines Sweep Trinity for Second Win of Spring
DOVER, Del. - Wesley won its home opener in style, sweeping visiting Trinity Washington 9-0 in a non-conference match.
The Wolverines (2-3) won 96 of the match's 106 games, with two doubles teams and four singles winners who did not drop a single game.
All six singles players won in straight sets.
Lauren Tarver and Rebecca Pennington were both unblemished on the afternoon. Each player won singles matches 6-0, 6-0, then teamed for an 8-0 win at first doubles.
Amanda Bynon also won 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles and was part of an 8-0 winner at second doubles, along with Kori Isken.
Isken was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at third singles. Taylor Blackiston won 6-4, 6-2 at fifth singles, while Tara Spillane notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles.
Blackiston teamed with Jessica Lambert for an 8-2 win at third doubles.
The win was Wesley's second of the season, matching the Wolverines win total from all of 2006-07. Trinity fell to 1-3 overall.
Wesley travels to Capital Athletic Conference rival Salisbury on Saturday for an 11:00 AM match.
