Wesley Falls 5-4 in Heartbreaker to Hood
DOVER, Del. - Hood College won two of three matches settled by tie breakers to capture a slim 5-4 win over Wesley College in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action.
At first doubles, Christina Ocampos-Barry and Larisa Buriak outlasted Wesley's Lauren Tarver and Rebecca Pennington 9-8 (11-9). The duo of Kori Isken and Amanda Bynon picked Wesley (2-5, 0-4) up at second doubles, winning in a tiebreaker 9-8 (7-5).
Tarver and Pennington redeemed themselves in singles play, claiming wins at the first and second seeds. Tarver exacted revenge on Ocampos-Barry with a 6-1, 6-3 win at first singles. Pennington took down Buriak at second doubles, 6-4, 6-4.
Bynon picked up her second win of the day with a 6-3, 6-1 at fourth singles. Hood won at third, fifth and sixth singles to take the match.
Wesley is back in action on Friday, when the Wolverines travel to Villa Julie for a 3:30 PM start.
