Wesley Track & Field stands out at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Against all Division I competition, the Wesley College men's and women's track and field teams performed very well at the Navy Invitational on Saturday, held at the Wesley A. Brown Field House at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Kai Cole and Thomas Kalieta Jr. led the men's side with a pair of top-five finishes each. Cole earned a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.86 seconds. Cole and Kalieta tied for second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.74 seconds. Kalieta also finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.76 seconds.

Brandon Faulk tied for first in the men's high-jump when he cleared 6-4.75. Javonte Freeman placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles running a time of 8.56 seconds. Jordan Dillard and Raul Torresfinished fourth and fifth in the 500-meter dash with times of 1:08.52 and 1:08:92 respectively.

Daquay Harris-Winbush placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 21-6.75.

Anthony Anastasi finished seventh in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:44.89.

John Heriot earned a pair of top-ten finishes including eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.86 seconds. Heriot also placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 20-1.

Isaiah Bodie and TySean Cousar finished eighth in the 400-meter and 500-meter events respectively.  Bodie clocked in at 57.43 seconds and Cousar finished with a time of 1:11.12.

Evelina Sloboh paced the Wesley women with two top-ten finishes, including winning the 60-meter dash crossing the line in 7.61 seconds. Sloboh also finished seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.91 seconds. Maysha Foster notched 13th place in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 26.50 seconds.

Victoria Robinson placed 16th in the long jump with a distance of 15-1.25. Jontae Hankins was right behind Robinson in the long jump, finishing in 17th place with a jump of 14-4.

With their performances at the meet, both Cole and Sloboh take over sole possession of the fastest time in the 60-meter dashes in the nation.

The Wesley track and field teams will return to the Naval Academy on Friday, Feb. 8 when they compete at the Navy Select Invitational.
